Mindful Mouth Rinse is a blend of aloe vera juice + plant extracts + essential oils! This is a super easy recipe to make yourself and the best part is that you can easily tweak it to fit your own needs and what you have on hand. Not to mention its super affordable, esp when you start comparing it to other natural mouth rinses on the market. This recipe makes a concentrate which you will dilute with water before each use.
The main ingredients is pure aloe vera juice like this one found HERE. Aloe is great for inflammation, bleeding gums, and gingivitis!
Aloe vera is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial! The plant is also rich in antioxidants making it perfect to treat and relieve inflammation related to gum disease and other oral issues.
Inflammation is part of your body’s natural immune response, but it can lead to pain, swelling and discomort. Aloe contains chemical compounds that can ease pain. It also contains antiseptic agents that help inhibit the growth of bacteria and viruses.
Aloe vera is rich with powerful antioxidants that fight free radicals that cause cell damage. These aloe vera traits may also help gingivitis, gum infections and other mouth irritations.
You can use the Aloe alone or feel free to add tinctures and extracts of your choice to the mix. My personal blend contains homemade tinctures of:
Plantain – wound healer/fights infections
Yarrow – stops bleeding/heals mouth
Oregon Grape Root – astringent – tightens and tone tissues, which is especially useful for swollen and inflamed gums.
Bee Propolis– incredible antimicrobial properties
And you can add essential oils to the mix – I use a blend of
Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Oregano, Clove, and Wintergreen!
If you dont have your own tincutres and essential oils to mix, you can purchase blends already made like THIS or these essential oils, but again – this step is optional. You can just use the aloe if you want the most cost effective option or better yet, make your own tinctures to add.
To Make: Simply fill a container of your choice up with pure aloe vera juice. Add any additives you would like – I usually do a teaspoon of each tincture per 16oz of aloe juice and 10-12 drops of essential oil.
To Use: Shake well before each use. Add 1 teaspoon to a mouthful of water in a shot glass, swish and spit – Use 2x a day. So easy!
